How progress is measured

Progress to target

Each indicator has a baseline value and a 2063 target. Progress is the share of the distance from the baseline to the target that has been covered so far, capped between 0 and 100 percent.

Direction of improvement

Most indicators improve as they rise, for example access to electricity. Some improve as they fall, for example the poverty rate or maternal mortality. Each indicator records which direction counts as better, and progress is calculated accordingly.

Where the data comes from

Indicators that map cleanly to an international series are refreshed from World Bank Open Data. The rest are modelled estimates, aligned to published Agenda 2063 baselines and targets, and are clearly labelled. The table below lists the source for every indicator.
